The official implementation date of certain provisions of Germany's new immigration law has been set - it's on November 18th! However, please note that the part of the law concerning the Blue Card will officially come into effect on November 18th. Other regulations related to skilled immigration and family reunion visas will be implemented within 7 to 10 months. Let's take a closer look at the key aspects of the new immigration law regarding the Blue Card:

1. The minimum annual salary standards have been reduced:

   - For applicants in regular professions, the statutory annual salary has been lowered to 43,800 euros (approximately 3,650 euros per month).

   - For applicants in shortage occupations, the statutory annual salary is now 39,682 euros (around 3,306 euros per month).

2. The scope of shortage occupations has been expanded to include professions such as veterinarians and dentists.

3. Blue Card holders from other EU countries can temporarily or permanently move to Germany:

   - For stays of up to 90 days, Blue Card holders from other EU countries can come to Germany and engage in business activities directly related to their employment.

   - After holding a Blue Card in another EU country for at least twelve months, individuals can permanently relocate to Germany without the need for a visa. However, upon arrival in Germany, they must apply for a German EU Blue Card at the Foreigners' Registration Office.

In addition, there are several other favorable regulations that will be implemented within the next 7 to 10 months. Let's review them as well:

1. Starting from March next year, family reunification rules will be more flexible. Blue Card holders can not only bring their spouses and children but also their parents and in-laws to live in Germany.

2. The employment opportunities for registered students in Germany will increase from the current 120 full days or 240 half days to 140 full days or 280 half days.

3. A points-based system, called the "Opportunity Card," will be implemented. Applicants who score at least 6 points will have the opportunity to search for a job in Germany for one year. Once they find a job, they can switch to a work visa or a Blue Card. Meeting certain criteria will allow them to apply for permanent residence.

4. Individuals without a university degree or IT expertise will also be eligible to apply for the EU Blue Card in the future. However, they must have three years of professional experience, and the knowledge and skills acquired must be at a university level.
